Ning Yutian
Ning Yutian—Former director of Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Research field: computer research and development
After graduated in the computer sciences major from Beijing Institute of Aeronautics (currently Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics ) in 1962, Mr. Ning successively worked as research intern, Research Assistant and Associate Researcher at the Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, where he participated in the development of large-scale computer No.111, No.651, No.013, No757 and No.KJ8920 etc. In 1978, He won the National Scientific and Technology Conference Award. In 1985, due to his excellent contribution in engineering developments of the No 757 large-scale computer, he won the first prize of the National Scientific & Technological Progress Awards.
From 1990 to 1995, he hold a concurrent post as the director of Computer Network Center, CAS.
From 1995 to 1997, he served as the director of Computer Network Information Center, CAS.
R&D projects listed as below:
In 1989, he acted as a project leader, organized related research institutes and undertook “Education and Research Demonstration Network in Zhongguancun area”, one of the NCFC projects. It was State Development Planning Commission’s national key disciplinary development project sponsored by World Bank loans. He organized and participated in the initial design of the network program, the improvement of network solutions, and the overall project construction. This project contributed brilliantly to the national large computer networks and Internet, thereby Mr. Ning won the outstanding prize of CAS Scientific & Technological Progress Awards in 1998.
Due to his excellent works in science research and engineering development, Mr. Ning received the special government allowance of the State Council in 1996.
Science, technology and management work experience listed as follows:
From 1983 to 1985, he worked as an associate researcher in the State Council Leading Office for Electronic Computers and Large-scale Integrated Circuit.
From 1986-1988, he worked as Academic Secretary at the Technology and Science department of CAS.
From 1988 to 1992, he worked as the chief engineer, vice director and researcher of Bureau of Technological Sciences and Development, CAS.
Starting from 1990, he began to hold a concurrent post as the director of Computer Network Center, CAS, and from 1995 to 1997, he officially held this position as the director of Computer Network Information Center, CAS. From 1992 to 1994, he served as the deputy director of the Division of Science & technology of the State Planning Commission.
